Breathe for Change: SEL for Mind-Body Wellness

I need help funding this dynamic Breathe for Change professional development. Please help me provide my school community with the benefits of yoga, mindfulness and social emotional learning.

My Project

The Breathe For Change transformational training will allow me to engage with a community of educators while studying powerful mind-body wellness practices. Our learning will emphasize yoga/mindful movement, mindfulness, breathwork, social-emotional learning, and community building strategies. Through this training, I will become equipped and empowered to teach inclusive and trauma-informed yoga classes to young people and adults in my community. Additionally, I will learn to design and facilitate wellness and social-emotional learning workshops and professional development for educators and school communities.

Mindfulness programs in schools are linked to improvement in students' social-emotional wellness, memory, organizational skills, and academic performance.

Breathe For Change's research-based curriculum and trainings, specifically, have been shown to:

- Enhance educator well-being and reduce stress and burnout

- Increase educator job satisfaction and performance

- Improve school culture and climate and staff morale

- Improve educators’ capacity to embody social-emotional learning competencies

- Improve students’ social-emotional learning and academic outcomes

- Improve educator pedagogy and facilitation skills

- Build community and foster human connection

- Prepare educators to use wellness as a vehicle for social change

As a graduate of the Breathe for Change training I will receive the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification (CYT 200), as well as the Breathe For Change Social-Emotional Learning Facilitator (SEL*F) Certification. The SEL*F curriculum is aligned to the nationally-recognized CASEL competencies, and equips educators and leaders to live, breathe, and embody these competencies in their daily lives and teaching.
