Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Help me relieve stress, inflammation, and anxiety in my students. My students need social-emotional learning opportunities. We aim to build flexibility, strength, and mental health in our community. Goodness spreads.

Thanks to your generosity and the priorities of leaders in alternative education, we could have a Licensed Yoga Teacher helping to integrate movement, mindfulness, and community-building into our curriculum.

Yoga, restorative healing circles, literature circles, empathy circles, close reads, and book clubs are just some goals of the humanities department here at YCCS-West. According to recent studies, yoga practice can help us eat mindfully, manage weight, improve body image, and strengthen our hearts (literally, and figuratively). Yoga means to unite. Please consider uniting with this Donors Choose project.

I know my students will benefit from learning more strategies to increase their focus, process their emotions and develop their interests.
