Help me give my students a chance to stretch and move and breathe by learning the relaxing practice of yoga. Yoga is what my students need to connect with themselves and others after this time of distance learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Even after a full year of virtual learning, my students start each and every day with smiles and cheerful "Good Mornings!" They are resilient and happy most days. Our school is a Title I school and our families have been hit hard this year. My students are most in need of feeling connected. Connected to the school that they have not seen for a year. Connected to their teacher...me. Connected to each other. As we prepare to bring our students back on site, I need to be ready to make them feel safe, confident and ready to tackle the hard work of learning everything they need to know. That includes being able to "check in" with themselves emotionally, physically and mentally.
My Project
My students have been attending school from home for the past year. As we prepare to come back to school in-person, my students need to reconnect to themselves as students and to each other in a safe, calming way. Yoga has been a lifesaver for many during this time of COVID restrictions and I must find ways to help my students move and breathe in this new "socially distanced" way of life.
Yoga will provide my students with a sense of accomplishment both physically and mentally in a calm, supportive way.
