This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are the heart of everything I do. They come from vibrant, diverse cultures and bring powerful perspectives to our classroom. I love them deeply, and I believe in building a learning environment where every child feels seen, valued, and represented. In our classroom, we celebrate our differences, and now, with your help, we can breathe in the beauty of inclusion and racial justice, literally.

We urgently need an Earth's Diffuser and a set of culturally meaningful essential oils to create a dedicated Representation and Racial Justice Reflection Center.

Here, students will gather to experience calming scents tied to different world cultures, like lavender for peace, cedarwood for healing, and citrus for hope. This space will be a daily reminder that justice, equity, and unity are things we must feel, share, and reflect upon together.

This is more than just a diffuser; It’s a transformational classroom tool that will help students slow down, breathe, and understand how representation and racial justice matter in every space, even in the air we breathe. The diffuser can be used as a teaching moment: Lavender (Europe, globally used) – for calm and peace, symbolizing mutual respect.

Frankincense or Myrrh (Africa, Middle East) – to honor ancient cultures and their deep roots in history.

Citrus scents like Orange or Bergamot (Asia, Caribbean) – representing energy, hope, and vitality.

Cedarwood or Sage (Native American traditions) – used in cleansing rituals, symbolizing healing and renewal.

During lessons or read-alouds on racial equity, we can use a related scent to anchor the experience and stimulate emotional reflection.

Please help us create a safe, inspiring, and inclusive haven where unity has a scent and justice has a space.
