This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The majority of my students are mainly ESOL (English as a second language). Their parents are mainly immigrants from Hispanic countries such as Cuba, Venezuela, Columbia, and Nicaragua. They speak only Spanish. I enjoy involving them in well rounded activities that help them develop the vocabulary they need to succeed in Kindergarten. The VPK program at my school provides the building blocks they require to achieve high standards in math as well as phonological and language development to transition to kindergarten.
My Project
These materials will allow me to group three students at a time in a learning center. They will be able to expand their knowledge and usuage of the English language in the areas of math, language and phonological development. They will focus on specific activities provided on these iPad's daily. These iPads will be used to expand and supplement my daily lessons regarding these areas of development. It is imperative that prek students enter kindergarten with a wealth of knowledge in these areas. This will catapult them into succeeding to meet the goals set for them in kindergarten with a positive attitude.
