My Students
Our school is nestled in an eclectic and diverse area of the Wasatch Front in Northern Utah. My second grade class bubbles with creativity, wonder and energy.
My students are inquisitive little bees, buzzing to and fro to take in the world around them through academic experiences, creative expression, and endless questions for their teacher and families.
My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, speaking different languages and arrive at school from many diverse demographics and experiences. Their varied life experiences and cultural diversity bring so much joy to our classroom.
My Project
COVID-19 drastically reduced my students' exposure to the world around them, but also limited the variety of books and learning materials they were able to access at home. My students have been voracious readers since we returned to the classroom. I often see them cozied up together with a great book, enjoying the time to learn with their peers.
The books I chose for this project are visually stunning, developmentally appropriate, and highly engaging for readers at all levels.
Multiple copies of each book will allow students the opportunity to read with peers and deepen their understanding of the concepts through social learning experiences.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
