My Students

My students attend a Title I school and receive free lunch. They have faced many challenges and forms of adversity. So when they come to class, they crave knowledge and excitement.

As a math teacher, I have observed that my students will work tirelessly at rigorous tasks to unravel mysteries.

They persevere and carry a growth mindset, even when they want to give up on a difficult assignment. This is why I want to obtain the Breakout EDU box. This box is a creative way for students to collaborate, stay engaged in learning, and can be used in multiple subjects.

This project will reach seven fifth grade classrooms, all set in a rural environment. These students come to school eager to learn and are excited about what each day may bring.

My Project

Using Breakout EDU boxes will allow my students to learn curriculum or review content in a new and exciting way. Working in teams, students must use clues and puzzles to work collaboratively in order to successfully solve the mystery. BreakoutEdu boxes uses a wide variety of locks or tools, such as directional, word, and digit locks, invisible ink and UV flashlights to further increase student engagement and participation.

This Breakout EDU kit will allow my students to become better problem solvers, creative thinkers, and leaders.

Throughout the game, students will need to work on tasks that involve multiple subjects. Communicating effectively is another skill this is not only vital in solving mysteries but is in need of practice at the age of 11! In the end, with all these positive reasons to play Breakout EDU, it seems to be a no-brainer. I want to make my lessons more exciting and more relevant and Breakout EDU is exactly the way to do it!
