My Students
Our school has a long history embedded into the community we serve. Students are excited to attend school where many of their parents and even grandparents went before them. I have an exciting opportunity to start a STEAM Resource program for the first time! When you walk into my classroom you won't see students sitting in desks diligently taking notes, but instead you'll see students brainstorming ideas, drawing images, building models, testing their solution, and more!
My students are spunky, inquisitive, and hardworking.
"I never knew school could be this fun!" a student shouted to a group member as they were working on a STEAM project. It is moments like these that push me to ensure that my students always have opportunities for hands-on, real-life learning experiences. It is wonderful donors, like yourself, that can help me to provide these experiences to our youngest learners!
My Project
We're excited to breakout of the mold of traditional teaching styles to complete engaging puzzles that link with the curriculum at the same time! Imagine bringing an Escape Room into the classroom. Well we're excited to do just that! Breakout Edu has developed a game where students solve clues in the form of logic puzzles, cryptic messages, and a series of locks. The box of supplies allows me to align the game with the curriculum that the students are learning in their homeroom class, so it is perfect for students kindergarten through fifth grade! In fact over 250 games can be completed with just one kit!
This instructional tool will allow me to facilitate learning about critical thinking strategies, risk-taking, and learning how to collaborate with others.
Helping students navigate social skills is a large part of STEAM projects. It's important that students learn how to ask questions, divide work, and understand that their classmates may get to an answer differently than they would. Breakout Edu allows students to showcase the multiple strategies that learners can use to get to the same answer. It's this creativity in learning that the kits allow students to express. I look forward to helping students navigate this type of collaboration and learn from their classmates!
