This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students live in a small community in Northeast Alabama. 68% of students at my school receive free and reduced-price lunch. Even though many of our students live at or below the poverty line, students and teachers at my school work hard to bridge the achievement gap. Students receive an education full of rigor and receive quality instruction from a vast array of trained professional educators. Our high school is committed to helping our students become successful global citizens in the 21st century.
My Project
Varying the tools to engage students in the 21st century is a very important aspect of all classrooms. My students need a breakout box and a Chromebook in order for me to provide them opportunities to engage them in higher order thinking skills in my social studies classroom.
With the breakout box, my students will be constantly engaged with critical thinking and problem solving skills.
This type of cognition is important for all students in all aspects and areas of life. The Chromebook will be used to create digital breakouts when the actual box kit cannot be used in the classroom due to having too many students in the classroom.
