This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Last year a group of ambitious middle school students in our urban district set out to create a school television show from the ground up. Using just a handful of cameras and basic editing software, the aspiring student news team was able to write, direct, edit, and ultimately produce a school YouTube television show that became an instant hit with fellow students, staff, and families across the city. With student-created content that included everything from a cooking show in Spanish to unconventional (and often comedic) student and teacher interviews, the students worked extremely hard to design something original that they could be proud of both inside and outside of school.

Building on the momentum of last year's student news programming, the show now aims to create an even bigger and better product.

This year the hope is to purchase microphones to enhance the audio production of the cameras and tripods to help stabilize the camera visuals. By donating to our project, you will not only help to build on the hard work of the student news team, but you will make a world of difference in how the final product is both seen and heard.
