Help me give my students soft skills and real-life experience in working with people. Playing multi-player video games allows students to learn soft skills needed in the workplace. For example, they can practice leadership, cooperation, compassion, and patience.
I love being a librarian in a middle school! The kids are great and a little crazy sometimes. Being “in the middle” is hard. Growing up has so many challenges, especially now. Mario Brothers have been around for a few decades, and I find that the Nintendo switch is the most economical way to get a gaming group started in the library. Having a time where kids can just hang out and enjoy each other doesn’t happen often in a school. “Breakfast with Mario” will be a before school gaming group. In the gaming group, students can be leaders and learn good sportsmanship. The program can grow to also offer gaming as an incentive, hosting family game nights in the library, and extending the gaming group to a summer camp. The possibilities are endless!
“Breakfast with Mario” will give the students a safe place to play games and socialize before school.
Students will also have an opportunity to meet students outside their immediate grade-level and/or social group. As a bonus, the library will have an increase in traffic. This boost in traffic will expand circulation and accessibility to the materials in the library. Also, this program gives the librarian the opportunity to interact with teenagers who might not normally check out books or seek out library events.
“Breakfast with Mario” will be a fun way to get students into the library and for the librarian to get to know them better.
