My Project
My students are wonderful. They come to school each day to learn and develop new skills. However, many of them struggle with home situations that are less than ideal. Some of them have to get themselves up and ready for school each day. Sometimes they have to care for younger siblings and get them off to school in the morning. Many times, they arrive at school late and ill-prepared for the day.
Some students need to eat breakfast at school, but they arrive too late to get food from the cafeteria.
While it is certainly not ideal for students to arrive late, the situation is worse when they are not only tardy but also hungry. Hungry students don't learn well, for emotional as well as physical reasons. Being able to give them a quick breakfast helps them physically. It also helps them know that they are loved and cared for.
