My Students

My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Their individual needs in the classroom vary greatly, and yet, they have learned to embrace each other's differences and work to build a strong classroom community. Some of our proudest moments have come about when we are working in small teams towards a common goal. Even the most reluctant or struggling learners will get excited by the challenge and work with his/her team to accomplish the goal. I want to continue to provide my students with these learning experiences where we can all get excited and learn together in an authentic way.

My Project

Today's world is changing ever so quickly and with that comes a need for our classrooms to change, too! When they enter the workplace, our students will need to be able to communicate well with others, collaborate and share ideas, and use critical thinking skills to solve problems. Our classrooms must be a place where these skills are practiced regularly so that our students are prepared. BreakOut EDU boxes are one tool that facilitates this kind of work in a fun/game-like approach.

The best part is that these boxes use the content that students are already learning as the focus of the "puzzle" so that learning is maximized!

These boxes will be shared with other classrooms throughout our school to help bring these fun learning experiences to even more students.
