My Students
My students are hardworking and dedicated learners. They come to school every day with a yearning to learn! It is our job to provide them with all the tools and education they will need for their future. Most of my kids are African-American. I want to provide them with clothes that celebrate and reflect their heritage this month!
My Project
Learning fraction is an abstract concept. Telling kids two thirds is bigger than one half doesn't quite make sense to an 8 year old. However, if they get an opportunity to experience this, what a difference that makes!
Having kids make bread in the classroom will provide an authentic real life application of measurement and fractions.
They will learn how to add, multiply, divide and even subtract fraction make following recipes. In addition to cooking, they will have so much fun, they will stay engaged in the learning process. Plus, they get to eat what they create - who doesn't love that!
