My Project

My 9th graders are curious, passionate, and eager to connect what they read with the world around them. Many come from historically marginalized communities and bring a rich diversity of experiences to the classroom. They are developing their identities and learning to think critically about the systems that shape their lives.

I want to build a classroom library that reflects the lives, identities, and dreams of my students.

This project will fund a collection of contemporary books written by authors of color, LGBTQ+ authors, and authors with disabilities. These books—ranging from fiction to memoir—will open up conversations around justice, resistance, healing, and community.

With your support, my students will not only become stronger readers, but also more aware citizens. They'll read stories that validate who they are and challenge them to think critically. This diverse classroom library will create space for healing, joy, and deeper connection—within themselves and with each other.
