This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

What comes to your mind when you think of a book about math? Initially maybe you think of something dry, boring or full of numbers that read like stereo instructions. Well, it is time to meet G is for Googol. We need to get our kids reading more in math and this book is the gateway.

Our students are middle school 6th grade math students.

They enjoy math and are successful. These students have chosen to enroll in a brand new school and are part of something great. They want to expand math beyond just the numbers and variables. They have begun weekly readings within the context of mathematics. They will love this book.

My Project

G is for Googol is a funny, witty, versatile and intelligent book. Last year we used a copy of the book and created a blog with our reactions and responses to each letter. This year we would like to blog again, add a Glogster digital poster element and perhaps write our own sequel to the book. The book is just phenomenal and your generosity will go a long way by putting a copy of this wonderful book in each of our scholar's hands.

These books will allow us to expand reading and writing deep into the world of math.
