Brand New Piano for a Brand New Classroom

My Students

The students at my institution go above and beyond. They always do what is asked of them, but most of them truly go above and beyond what is expected. A good majority of my students come from outside the district to attend this school because of the high level of learning that takes place behind the doors. I think that says something of the teachers, parents, but most importantly, the students.

My students go above and beyond what is expected of them.

My school also does not have a lot of music supplies, and my students deserve all the resources they can get their hands on. Unfortunately, there are no performing ensembles at my school, so any supplies received from here will be a huge benefit for my scholars.

My Project

This keyboard will help my students warm-up for choir rehearsal. Our school can not take our old grand piano with us to the new building, so we need to replace it. Our students have not had choir in several years, so when I create a choir, I will be ready to lead them in rehearsals with this new keyboard.

This brand new, digital piano will make my students into beautiful, tuneful musicians.

In addition to choir rehearsals, my students come to general music class ready to sing and play instruments. It is a challenge being limited to ukulele and guitar, so having this piano will be a huge advantage.

There are also a lot of pianos in our old school that will be brought over to the new building. When these pianos are brought over, my students will learn how to play songs they enjoy on their own pianos.

My students will be able to see themselves in the curriculum because they will be in charge of what repertoire we sing in choir. Many of my students are of African descent and are drastically underrepresented in choirs and bands. I believe through working with minority students in music, will also help see themselves in the curriculum. Our music will not just be typical concert choir music but will also feature a lot of African music as well.

This new piece of music technology will find that it will go along nicely with the other technology in my new music room. It is time to bring my music room into the 21st century, and this new digital keyboard will be a great addition!
