Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are creative, thoughtful, and full of energy and they learn best when they can engage actively with the material. I teach high school English, and I strive to create a classroom where students feel empowered to think critically, collaborate, and revise their thinking without fear of making mistakes. Many of my students are still developing confidence in their academic skills, and having hands on tools makes a big difference in how they approach learning.

This project will give my students reusable tools that make learning more interactive, sustainable, and low pressure.

With dry erase sleeves and mini erasers, students can practice skills like identifying claims, using evidence, and revising grammar in a way that feels safe and flexible. Clipboards will let them move around the room for gallery walks, group tasks, and choice seating. A classroom laminator and anchor chart paper will allow me to create reusable resources like writing scaffolds, visual aids, and student-created charts that can support learning all year long. These tools don’t just cut down on paper waste but they support repetition, revision, and active thinking.

My goal is to create a classroom that encourages students to take academic risks and try again without fear of failure. These materials will help me model that revision and reflection are part of the learning process. My students show up ready to participate and care about growing, even when learning feels hard. With these tools, I can support them more effectively every day.
