This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are hard workers who want more opportunities to grow and learn, but they do not have all of the tools to do so. I teach third grade at an urban city school.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom.
These challenges may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical." From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me.
My Project
This online program called BrainPOP is an essential engagement tool that allows both students and teachers to be involved in the learning process. It will support learning in both Mathematics and Social Studies in my Fourth Grade classroom. This program increases the depth of knowledge needed to answer quiz questions, and playful assessments that allow students to explain their reasoning while playing a game.
BrainPOP makes learning visible in the online classroom environment through tools that challenge students to reflect, make connections, and engage in deeper, curiosity-driven learning.
Engaging students in the online classroom with this program will help to fill in learning gaps as well as increase grade level content.
