My students need a classroom subscription to BrainPop so they can view fun educational videos and practice 8th grade English Language Arts skills on their new iPad.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
If technology is the pen and parchment of our today's society, only those with access to technology have the key to the future.
My energetic 8th grade students live in a high-poverty urban area of Northern California.
More than 70% of them qualify as socioeconomically disadvantaged. They are so-called "minority" students: Almost half are English language learners. Unlike their wealthier peers in nearby districts, many do not have high-tech tools at home. How can we expect them to excel in the workforce if schools can't provide them with the most rudimentary computer skills necessary to succeed in today's ultra-competitive job markets?
My Project
BrainPOP uses animation, music, technology, and humor to help students learn subjects that they might otherwise consider boring. Difficult concepts are explained using animated videos that also include interactive quizzes and other engaging features. One study of middle school students using BrainPOP showed a growth of one to two grade levels in just 20 weeks of daily use!
This subscription to BrainPOP will help capture the attention of my learners and make a (sometimes) dull subject come alive.
Please help me engage and empower by donating a one-year classroom subscription to BrainPOP!
