My students represent a diverse community of learners. Their age ranges from four to fourteen years and their language proficiency varies from entering to bridging. The students come from across the globe from the Himalayas to the Andes. On any given day, I hear students speaking Chinese, Swahili, Spanish, Arabic, Nepali, Russian, and Bengali, Portuguese, and Urdu. These students are united by the same goal of learning English and reaching proficiency in academic and interpersonal communication. I am committed to providing them with challenging assignments that would be both linguistically accessible and content rich.
My Project
Brain Pop is the name in educational technology that needs no introduction. The highly engaging and content-rich videos have been a go-to resource for thousands of classrooms. In the shift to online learning BrainPop has provided indispensable service in supplementing core content. I have been using BrainPop, BrainPop Jr, and BrainPop ELL for several years. While the first two services are covered by the district and made available to all educators, the BrainPop ELL app is specific to English language learners' needs as it focuses of features of grammar and topic vocabulary.
BrainPop ELL subscription would allow my students to practice lessons at their own pace and also allow me to share the lesson I would like to focus on during online learning sessions.
