I am at a school in which about two thirds of the students are from low income households.
There are about 150 third graders and although I have my own class of students, I also get to teach many of the third grade students when they come to my classroom for ESL and in depth rotation classes that are focused on science concepts.
The students are eager and excited to learn and share their ideas and thinking.
Engaging students can make all the difference to their grasping a concept. Grab their interest, make it fun, and they will learn.
Imagine being taught by a robot who makes jokes.
This opportunity is possible by having a subscription to BrainPOP in which a robot teaches students about science, math, language arts and other subjects in an interactive and exciting way through lessons, games, and activities online. The videos are fun, engaging and great for ELD students. The quizzes are interactive and the students are excited when answering questions. The site offers activities that directly tie into concepts students are learning.
