This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Snacks are essential for 2nd graders because they support their physical and cognitive development throughout the school day. At this age, children have high energy needs due to their active lifestyles and growing bodies. A healthy snack can provide a much-needed energy boost, helping them stay focused and engaged during lessons. Nutrient-rich snacks, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, contribute to their overall health, supporting their immune systems and improving their mood and concentration.

Moreover, regular snack breaks can help prevent mid-morning hunger, which can be distracting and make it difficult for students to concentrate on their work.

Having a scheduled snack time also teaches kids the importance of balanced eating and helps them develop healthy eating habits early on. In addition, snacks offer a valuable opportunity for social interaction, allowing students to practice sharing and conversational skills in a relaxed setting. Overall, incorporating snacks into the daily routine ensures that 2nd graders are physically energized and mentally prepared to learn and participate actively in their classroom activities.
