Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come from a working class neighborhood in the city of Chicago. The school sets high expectations for students consisting of pushing all students to apply and persevere through college. The students are unique and hard working. Many of our students participate in either sports, theater or cheer!

This is also an important year for my junior students and they are constantly reminded that the SAT test is approaching quickly.

There is very little time for my students to waste because they are working hard to improve their GPAs and SAT scores. Our students are hardworking and motivated to grow each day!

My Project

My students are craving snacks during each school day and I want to reward them for working hard in math. I've previously had a Donors Choose project funded for healthy snacks and it made a world of difference in my classroom. I have a healthy snack incentive in my class when students work hard. It´s a challenge logistically and on my budget for me to keep buying the snacks for the students.

This is an important school year for my students as they have an opportunity to take the SAT test, while beginning to think about applying to colleges.

I want to complete this project so that the students will have more snack options for working hard and challenging themselves in the classroom.
