This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students come to my classroom each day bringing in baggage of depression, anxiety, hunger, fatigue and traumas from their home lives. School is a place for them to escape these feelings for a short period of time. When students enter my Art class I try to make it as relaxing and stress relieving as I can. Imagine the calmness students will feel coming in to a room with dim lights, the aroma of calming lavender or mint in a diffuser and getting to relieve their daily stresses by making art.
Mental wellness is a top priority in my class and having snacks, drinks, an essential oils diffuser, essential oils and LED lighting can help to create the Zen environment that I am trying to provide for my students.
