Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work in a Title I Elementary school in Texas that serves the greatest, smartest, most creative kids in the world! Unfortunately, for many of them the only meals that they eat each day are at school and they may go without over the weekends or during breaks from school. Last school year, I did a DonorsChoose project to get a food pantry started and this school year I am asking for items to restock that pantry.

My wish is that, every Friday, myself and my school counselor can send home backpacks full of food to last the weekend for our students that face food insecurity at home.

We have been sending enough food for all three meals and snacks for each child in the family and this food pantry has served over 30 children so far this past school year and we are always on the lookout for more children with needs.
