This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students and I spent this year in distance learning. Even though distance learning has been a struggle for my students in different ways, we have created amazing routines, art projects and science experiments. At the end of February, many of my students and I will be returning to in-school learning. It will be challenging and wonderful at the same time. I am requesting these supplies to get my classroom ready for our upcoming circumstances.
We are living through history.
My students are incredible people. They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends.
My Project
My students are amazing; they are incredibly curious and creative 5th graders. I see them engaged in critical thinking and problem solving. I have awesome games already, but during COVID these group games cannot be used by my students. We need games and the paint-by-sticker books that my students can engage in on their own. By having access to paint-by-sticker books and engineering-focused activities, like Laser Maze and Circuit Maze, encourage attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
With these activities we will continue to develop our creative brains, engage in social emotional learning while building a stronger community--particularly as we return to in-school learning.
These activities will provide focus and purpose during our Morning Work time and indoor recess (Minnesota winter is here!).
My students have so much passion for learning and for creating--we need more opportunities to expand our perspectives and our creativity. This project will be just the ticket; it includes high-quality engaging puzzles and several brain-teasers, like the Laser Maze game, Kanoodle, and Katamino--a variety of one-person puzzles and games. The paint-by-sticker books will help my students feel calm and engaged during this transition back to in-person learning.
