This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Not all of my students come back to school rested with full bellies and hearts. Some will come back to school being hungry and needing attention to basics. Although my school provides free breakfast and lunch to students, we don't have snacks provided in the afternoon. We have breakfast at 8:30 am, lunch at 12:00 pm, and get out of school at 2:50 pm, meaning the time between lunch and dismissal can be a huge challenge in terms of focus. Since every day is packed with learning, hunger can be a huge barrier. It is hard to focus on an empty stomach!

These snacks, including apple sauce, chips, popcorn, and fruit snacks, will help students focus and be successful all day long.

These snacks are also prepackaged so that there is minimal instructional time lost; students can just grab a snack after lunch and continue working. Thank you in advance for supporting our learning!
