This has been an interesting year, first year school, Coronavirus, and now online education for students. My principal has been very proactive in getting online classes ready for our students. School was canceled on a Tuesday and we were online on Thursday. Kids had packets and we were ready to go.
I want to add to our classroom library and math read alouds.
We will be sending these books home for students to read. Our public library is closed because of the virus. I want to keep them reading!
While we are live on the computer with our students, I want to be able to read a math story to keep them excited while we are apart.
My Project
My students are reading chapter books in 1st grade. I need more books to keep them diving into literature. My students will be taking these books home to read. It is exciting that parents and my students can have time with a good book.
We are going to have live teaching sessions on the computer for our students.
I am going to be using some of these books to teach math lessons. I used the book "One Apple, Two Apples" to show them part, part, whole. 2 + 7 =9 My students loved seeing the connection of a good reading book to math problems.
