This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The Mechanical Mustangs Robotics Team supports our veterans at our local VA Hospital. We send Valentine's, food packages, and letters, and now we want to send bracelets.
Making bracelets lets our heroes, the Veterans, know how much we appreciate their service and how they have protected us and our country; this is a tiny, inexpensive way of showing them that we have not forgotten about their service.
It also helps our student's social and emotional growth. Teenagers tend to be solely focused upon themselves or their immediate surroundings. Sometimes it is difficult to see outside of their little world. By making a physical item to give to our veterans, they donate some of their time.
The items we are requesting are three different types of charms - a variety of patriotic charms that are red, white, and blue; a set of charms that represent each portion of our military: army, navy, airforce, marines, and coast guard; and charms that say "thank you" in a heart. We already have the basic red, white, and blue bracelets from a prior DonorsChoose project.
