Some are English-language learners while others read at a 7th-grade level.
Some are great at math. Others don't yet know their math facts. A few come from affluent households; but most don't.
Regardless of their diverse backgrounds, they all have high hopes and tons of potential. Some day, these kids will be paleontologists, vets, chefs, authors, Air Force pilots and neurosurgeons.
No matter their goals, I want to help them get there.
My Project
All of my items will help my students improve their reading or writing.
My students are nearly out of pencils and the last eraser left town after Thanksgiving.
They need erasers because the erasers never seem to last as long as their pencil partners. And the pencils don't seem to last very long either.
Regarding the books, I need more titles that are geared toward boys. The titles I've selected are fast paced and full of action or humor. Most of my male students read graphic novels (e.g. Wimpy Kid). I'd like to offer them titles where the prose is the feature rather than the associated comic.
