Mrs. Arthur from Roanoke VA is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 15 copies of "The Strange Case of Origami Yoda", "Darth Paper Strikes Back", and "The Secret of the Fortune Wookie" by Tom Angleberger to improve literacy.

My students are learning to love to read with help from volunteers in the Boys Book Club. By the end of the year, our boys will be willing to pick up a book and read adventures on their own. Reading is an adventure that can take you anywhere in the world!
We are a Title I school in an urban population with students representing 19 different countries.
Our school is diversified in culture, language and ethnicity. Our elementary school is one of the largest schools in our district, and our student population continues to grow as we are approaching 800 students. We are supportive and show school pride for our Step Team and Debate Team.
Our students will read and discuss the Origami Yoda series by Tom Angleberger which includes The Strange Case of Origami Yoda, Darth Paper Strikes Back and The Secret of the Fortune Wookie with volunteers and their peers. The volunteers that read with our boys were chosen to inspire our boys to become more engaged readers. Our students will also learn about the art of origami by creating the key characters in the books.
Having access to The Strange Case of Origami Yoda, Darth Paper Strikes Back and The Secret of the Fortune Wookie by Tom Angleberger will allow for our boys to read high interest books.
We hope the Origami Yoda series will help us show that reading can be an adventure and encourage the boys to become life long readers.
