Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school consists of about 90 percent English Language Learners and 100 percent receiving free or reduced cost lunch. Our teaching day consists of teaching Integrated ELD and Designated ELD for a minimum of 30 minutes a day and we support our newcomers with the most support as we level students during Designated ELD. Our focus is to teach reading, writing, listening, and speaking throughout the content and we team teach to help meet the needs of our EL population. Over the past couple of years, we have seen a big shift in immigrants traveling over the border and coming to live in our low-income and low socio-economic area.
Help us give our English Learning newcomers, heavy-duty ELD toolboxes for the materials we use throughout the year.
We read passages, take notes in our notebooks, have discussions, and give presentations. These toolboxes will be a great asset for our students to keep their materials organized throughout the day.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
