I'm a City Teaching Alliance Fellow and 4th-grade ELAR/Social Studies teacher via Dallas ISD serving a Title I school, where 99% of the scholars come from low-income families and receive free or reduced-price lunch. This doesn't solely define the children who attend the school. They are brilliant, full of life, and operate with a growth mindset. My scholars live in a tough neighborhood, yet this doesn't keep them from being South Dallas! They deserve the best education and learning environments. I want to provide them as much as I can to be successful readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, engineers, social activists, and artists. This school year, we are focused on improving Attendance, Achievement, Behavior, and Character through our adaptation of Ron Clark's House System for our School campus.
My scholars need materials to create custom coil-style books to create class and take-home materials.
These books will range from serving as personalized journals, study guides, note-taking tools, and planners, designed and used by the students themselves, no matter the need. By creating their books as STEAM learners for their reading, writing, and social studies class, students gain ownership of their learning, stay more organized, and develop critical study habits.
To make this possible, we need help covering the cost of:
