Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The almost 900 students at our school live in a low-income neighborhood with limited access to basic school supplies. We are a Title I school with almost all of the students qualifying for free breakfast and free lunch each day. On average, 2-3 students in my classroom are considered homeless and struggle to find suitable housing. They qualify for assistance through The McKinney Vento Homeless Assistance Act.

Although my students have limited access to resources, they are enthusiastic to come to school each day to learn many new standards.

I look forward to giving my students many of the much-needed supplies this year by asking the generous donors to provide these supplies.

My Project

Many of the students in my classroom have been diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), learning disabilities, and ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). Often times, my students interrupt the lesson I am giving, and always have difficulty focusing on the lesson. When their minds seem to be somewhere else and they are distracted, I look for ways to refocus them back onto the lesson.

I would like to have a class set of fidget bands for their chairs and a few Bouncy Bands to put on their desks.

I am hoping these tools help my students be more focused on the lesson and learn more while being active.
