I have a group of 34 fifth graders who come from a variety of different backgrounds. About half of my class are English language learners and have made huge improvements in their English skills. They are all eager to learn and enjoy coming to school every day. My school is located in a mixed economic area in Sacramento. Many of my students are being raised by single mothers or fathers and have limited access to materials after school is out.
We are working hard on establishing a growth mindset with our students so they know they can accomplish anything they put their minds to.
My most wiggles students need help keeping focused on their tasks. Instead of rocking back and forth in their chairs, let's give them bouncy bands!
Bouncy bands are like giant rubber bands that strap around the front of the desk legs, students can then put their feet on the band and can bounce without bothering the other students around them.
I would love to be able to get one for each of the 34 desks in my room, but I also incorporate wobble chairs, yoga balls, and stools so that each student can use whatever tool they work best with. Thank you so much!
