My Students

As students with learning and behavioral disabilities, all of my kids are at risk. Recent news stories have revealed that students with disabilities drop out at a much higher rate than their non-disabled peers. With the necessary materials, I can make my class an engaging and inviting place to learn so that no student quits school before earning a diploma!

My students are great kids, but they have learning problems that cause them to need extra support to succeed.

Most come from low-income households and many have suffered some sort of trauma. I have students in foster care and group homes that are struggling with learning disabilities in addition to emotional problems caused by abuse or neglect. Despite these problems, when given engaging materials, supplies to help them focus, and a caring teacher, each one of my students can become a successful adult!

My Project

Many students struggle to sit still all day at school. However, for students with ADHD and other learning differences it is nearly impossible! These Bouncy Bands attach to the legs of the desks so that students can bounce their feet while working.

This not only helps the fidgety students, but it helps others by giving them a way to tap their feet silently.

If you have ever been in a meeting with a foot tapper or pen clicker you know how distracting this can be! With Bouncy Bands, students can bounce their feet without disturbing others. For many students with learning differences, they really cannot sit still without some sort of movement. This device allows them to move without distracting other students or getting embarrassed by always being told to stop. It is a win-win for all the students in class.
