Bouncy Bands for Bouncy Young Scientists

My Students

We live in a rural county, with one general education junior high, serving the entire county. We live in the northern corner of the state with a city population of approximately nine thousand. My students have lots of obstacles to overcome in life.

Our county qualifies 100% of our students for free lunch.

We have high student populations of Native American, Hmong, and Hispanic students. A lot of our students are the first generation to graduate high school or attend college.

My Project

My students have a case of the wiggles this year. I only have half my cohort each day so 17 bands will be able to cover everyone, everyday in the classroom. We have a unique situation this year where we are in the same room for 4 hours for all four subjects (science, english, math, and history) and my students have less breaks and opportunities to stand up and move classrooms. This is middle school so these bands will help them focus and keep "the blood flowing" in their legs while being in one room for 4 hours straight! Thank you!
