This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The volleyball program at our school has been through a myriad of coaches the past few years and our equipment is in disarray. I stepped onto the court at our school to rebuild a program that has great, hardworking players that are eager to get better. We are a Title I school and do not have the funds in the community to donate basic practice equipment for a functioning, much less successful, program. My players deserve the chance to learn the game, grow and become the best possible student-athletes they can be.
More NFHS-certified volleyballs will give us more opportunities to improve by using the proper equipment.
Currently, our program has over 40 athletes and around 20 balls that can be used in an official match. This means only half get the chance to use the type of balls they will use in a game and all the others are left using old, tarnished, and noncompliant volleyballs in practice.
