Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Students come to the computer lab weekly for 45 minutes. Due to the nature of the course, students often have to sit the whole timely the computer is exciting and engaging, children are often wiggly. We do brain breaks and exercise when time allows, but this is not everyday.

My school is a STEAM school.

Our population is considered Title 1, with over 95% being free and reduced. My students love technology! School is the only place many children get to experience this wonderful tool. While they enjoy coming to the lab, 45 minutes can be long for anyone to sit and work independently.

My Project

WIth yoga balls as an alternate seat, students will be able to release energy and work at the same time. After doing research, I believe this will be a valuable tool in my room. Many times, I have to correct my students and remind them not lean back in chairs. Students often choose to stand, so that they can move around. Yoga balls will provide my students with the opportunity to work on eye level with the computer, but still move around.

I could not afford to do this without the help of donors and DonorsChoose.

This project will help with behavior and therefore, the time the student spends in trouble. Yoga balls will increase their engagement and strengthen those core muscles!
