My Students
This year I am teaching a self-contained second-grade class. That means all of the students in this classroom have special needs. Each child is unique in their own way, learns at their own pace, and brings something special to the table.
All of the students are so excited to have returned to school and be united with friends, teachers, and learning!
We're working hard to enter back into a routine and to grow our brains as much as possible!
My Project
Imagine sitting in your chair for 3 hours at a time without having many opportunities to move around. COVID has presented new challenges in the classroom that include (but are not limited to) keeping students in one place at one time. For my students who typically have the "wiggles" this has become a challenge that is not easy to overcome.
More than 50% of the students in my classroom have not spent an entire year learning in person since they were in pre-k.
As they entered back to in person learning for their second grade school year the students have transitioned from learning on couches, beds, etc. to being in a school chair.
I'm hoping these bouncy bands and seating cushions will allow students to find ways to be able to move while still remaining socially distanced from their classmates.
