Help me give my students STEAM learning tools such as magnetic tiles, LEGO blocks, interlocking disks, and an iPad charging port for our daily technology station. Also, please help my students have flexible seating with Gaiam balance balls!
I have the privilege to teach 24 unique first-grade students who are filled with the potential to change the world. They are eager to learn and connect with other students from various life experiences. I am so happy to be their teacher, and I am grateful to have the chance to build positive relationships with them that lead to incredible learning experiences. I want my students to love learning but I find it equally as important to make sure that my students know their value and are given every opportunity to succeed.
My Project
All of these materials were carefully chosen after 5 weeks of getting to know my students. I have found out very quickly that the most learning occurs when they have hands-on materials to work with. Also, they have all told me countless times of their love for LEGO blocks and all things building! The good news is: legos and the other hands-on tools included are fantastic ways of training my students to think creatively and critically, and collaborate with others in a cooperative environment! These are all important skills for children, but they are also how we thrive as adults!
I have also learned that 6 and 7-year-olds need to be moving in order to learn!
There are countless studies to show the positive impact movement has on the brain and memory. The bouncy balls will ensure that each child has an opportunity to sit comfortably and move in a controlled space when needed.
If all of these materials are funded, it will make a difference in 24 students' lives. After all, first graders were made to bounce and brain build!
