Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a diverse community in Queens, NY. They come from a huge variety of economic, religious, and cultural backgrounds. We have many ENL students who are new English-language speakers and learners. Over 80% of our students qualify for free and/or reduced lunch.
Our school works hand-in-hand with the community to ensure the highest quality education for ALL students who attend here.
We have a focus on service learning and global conservation, where the students and staff take part in fundraising and creating awareness about issues within the community and around the world. We make global partnerships and teach important citizenship values to our students through these worldwide connections.
My Project
I am requesting two backless ball seats to help my students work on their core strength and need for movement within the classroom. This is currently a type of flexible seating that I do not offer to my students, so it will be a hot item in my classroom! I am also requesting more wobble seats because the ones I currently have are a big hit!
Flexible seating has transformed my classroom and the feedback I have received from my students has been incredibly positive!
Adding these new types of seating to my room will enhance the learning in my classroom and allow more students to have options to work independently.
