My Students
My students come from a high-poverty low-income community. They live in the poorest county of New Jersey. Some of my students' parents work two to three jobs to take care of the bare necessities of everyday life. While their parents want the very best for them, the extra things in life may not be able to be provided. About seventy-five percent of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and cannot readily afford materials to help enhance their education.
My students have faced many challenges in their young lives where school tends to be their only constant.
In our first grade classroom, we like to keep things exciting. There are a lot of important skills that my first graders need to master before they are ready for second grade. They love working with each other and learning new things!
My Project
Do you remember sitting on a hard classroom chair when you were a student? We can change that by providing our students with yoga balls they can use as chairs while improving their fitness, concentration, and academic performance. Helping students learn how to release energy and focus at such a young age will help them become better students in the future.
These Yoga ball chairs will help my students focus during the school day.
They will allow students who have trouble sitting still on normal classroom chairs an opportunity to move. With your help we can increase student academic performance while increasing their fitness levels.
These three stability balls chairs would be a phenomenal asset to our classroom.
