I teach at a middle school that serves an area that is diverse in it's student population. We have students from all income levels and a variety of ethnic backgrounds. I would like to provide them with an opportunity they rarely get.
It is imperative that we to increase our student's fitness level so that they can develop and achieve a healthy and active lifestyle.
This will increase their quality of life and reduce health care costs in the future.
The Fitness/ Balance ball activities will make it possible for my students to develop both fitness and coordination. There are also many cooperative games that use fitness balls as well.
The lessons using fitness balls are divided into two parts.
Students will be able to increase upper body strength by doing push-ups on the ball and stretches for all of their muscles. The balls can be used for balance and stability.
Their are many cooperative games that use the fitness ball. These include games in which two or three people try to balance on the ball at the same time. It is fun!
