My Students
In the Asian Culture Club, students will engage in activities centered around community, healing, and growth. My students are special because they drive awareness within the school. They are on the important journey of lifelong self-discovery.
We will attend the Boston Asian-American Film Festival the week of October 20-24.
We will enjoy food, share our stories, and explore the greater Boston area for representation and art. We will host events with presentations, special guest speakers, and various Asian and/or Asian-influenced art forms. We will partner with the equity team to host a full-community event. We will read the book Interior Chinatown by Charles Yu in order to discuss discrimination, heritage, culture, and the history of Asian-American immigration.
My Project
The Asian Culture Club at SHS is seeking $172 to enjoy the Boston Asian-American Film Festival. The virtual screening will take place at our regularly scheduled club meetings (Thursday, October 21, 2:45 - 3:30 PM).
This trip will allow our students to see themselves represented in artistic media.
All the filmmakers and actors are Asian-American. The themes in the films include immigration, assimilation, acculturation, discrimination, and triumph in seeking the American dream. This trip will be a fun and educational experience. Thank you so much for your consideration.
