Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I get to work with some amazing students each year! Our school seeks to provide our students with the best educational experience possible. We are currently implementing a program called Leader In Me to help student’s gain life skills such as collaborating and polite discussion/disagreements.

As you can imagine, 7 and 8 year olds have trouble sitting for long periods of time.

My goal is to provide them alternative seating options to help them maintain focus and allow movement. I have a few stools and they are constantly borrowing them and are so much more focused with just a change of seating option.

My Project

My students will be able to move and fidget while they focus on their learning! Alternative seating really helps them stay on task and focus! Currently we only have 4 stools and they are constantly fighting over them. When they use them, they are on task and working hard! I really believe alternative seating will not only help my current students but my future students as well! Please consider helping my students reach their full potential by helping us gain flexible seating options. These will be used for work in all subject areas and for independent reading.
