My Project
Kindergarten and first grade students are naturally curious and full of wonder, especially when it comes to the world around them. At our school, we’re fortunate to have access to a beautiful pollinator prairie right on campus. This special outdoor space provides endless opportunities for hands-on, inquiry-based learning aligned with early elementary science standards.
Throughout the year, our students use the prairie to observe the life cycles of plants and insects, investigate patterns in weather and seasons, explore the needs of living things, and describe changes in the environment.
Unfortunately, even a little rain can keep our youngest scientists indoors; not because they’re unwilling, but because they’re unequipped. That’s where this project comes in.
By providing rain boots for our kindergarten and first grade students, we can ensure that learning doesn’t stop when the ground gets a little muddy. With rain boots, our students can safely and comfortably continue exploring the prairie in all kinds of weather, deepening their understanding of nature while staying dry and focused on discovery.
Help us keep our outdoor classroom open year-round—because science doesn’t stop for a little mud!
