My Project
My students are energetic, curious, and full of personality—but they thrive best when their basic needs are met. They may need a short nap to recharge, which helps them stay calm, focused, and ready to learn. Snacks are a big motivator too; a quick, healthy bite gives them the energy and encouragement they need to stay engaged. For my students, a little rest and a tasty snack go a long way in supporting their growth and success in the classroom.
Providing snacks and sleeping mats at our school can significantly benefit students by addressing basic needs that impact learning.
Some students face food insecurity and lack proper rest, which can lead to difficulty concentrating, behavioral issues and poor academic performance. Nutritious snacks help maintain energy and focus throughout the day, while short rest periods on sleeping mats—especially for younger children—can improve mood, attention, and memory. Meeting these fundamental needs supports a healthier learning environment and promotes equity by helping all students come to school ready to learn.
