This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Now that we are a couple of months into the school year, my class is requesting books, mostly in series that they are currently reading. I polled my class and they requested books currently not in our classroom library. Please help us to fulfill and keep their love for reading. It is proven that reading for just 20 minutes every night boosts overall fluency and academic success. Students will benefit from the ability to not only have choice in what they read, but greater access to grade level books. With increased fluency, students can access more content as they continue to grow in school. Additionally, my class has greatly enjoyed and benefited from the use of flexible seating this year. We are requesting a few more seats so more students can take advantage of movement in the classroom by use of the wobble chairs or medicine balls. These seating options allow students to learn in an environment that is comfortable to them. When students are not forced to learn in one defined manner, they have a greater opportunity of not only reaching grade level content, but also showing their creativity and individuality within the classroom.
